ADJUSTMENT OF THE ECCENTRIC NO. 85663 ON THE
NEEDLE POSITIONING LEVER NO. C 85662 (FIG. 81)
This adjustment is made in the factory during the assembly of the
machine, and should not be repeated in case it should be
necessary to remove this lever from the machine or assemble it
again with the machine.
The readjustment of the eccentric No. 85663 is only necessary
when the needle positioning lever has to be changed.
After having reassembled the machine (without the " Automatic
") with the new positioning lever and after having replaced the
spring No. 85658 (Fig. 81), proceed as follows:
Set the machine for straight stitching (needle positioning lever in
center position, and zig-zag width lever completely to the left).
Bring the needle bar to its highest position.
Without running the machine, move the zig-zag width lever se-
veral times back and forth. If the eccentric No. 85663 is not in its
correct position, the needle bar (without moving up or down) will
move sidewise from left to right and vice versa.
To correct this occurrence, proceed as follows:
Loosen slightly the screw No. 035040 FG which fastens the ec-
centric No. 85663 to the needle positioning lever No. C 85662.
Insert a screw driver into the groove of the eccentric No. 85663,
turn it clockwise (as explained under c) until the needle bar is not
moving sideways any more.
See to it that the stud " A " of the zig-zag width lever No. A 85606
(Fig. 81) touches the adjustable eccentric.
Firmly tighten the screw No. 035040 FG which holds the eccentric
on the needle positioning lever.
