Sander Access Doors
Access doors both located directly ahead of the rear axle, on the
streetside and the curbside of the vehicle, allow access to the filler
caps of the sand hoppers. They are each held open by (2) gas
struts and closed by a square key latch.
Surge Tank Access Door
The surge tank access door is located above the radiator access
door. Open the access door for engine coolant filling or coolant
level checks at the sight glass. The door is spring loaded to
remain either open or closed.
WARNING:
Never open the surge tank cap with the engine run-
ning or hot. Consult with the control center before
removing the cap.
Articulated Joint Access Doors
Access doors both located directly behind the center axle, on the
streetside and the curbside of the vehicle, allow access to artic
joint components. Open the curbside access door for the artic
joint hydraulics components. Open the streetside access door for
the artic joint control unit. They are each held open by (2) gas
struts and closed by (2) square key latches.
