Example
A turbo charged engine has a MAP sensor that reads 50 -350 kPa.
The actual Manifold Air Pressure at idle is 35 kPa even though the sensor
output says 50 kPa.
By setting the Load Select Factor to 50% at small throttle angles and low
engine speed and the Throttle to Map Table to 20 kPa it’s possible to use
MAP values that are lower than the sensor reading.
The MAP value used in the Volumetric Efficiency Table will be.
AM Kvol MAP = 50% * 20 kPa + (100% - 50% ) * 50 kPa
AM Kvol MAP = 10 kPa + 25 kPa = 35kPa.
Alpha-N
It’s possible to run NIRA i7x in pure Alpha-N mode. The Volumetric Efficiency
Table has a FlexiPorts™ Y-axis which enables the user to choose the load
signal.
The FlexiPorts™ setting for the Volumetric Efficiency Table is found under.
Mapping -> Fuel ->Basic -> Volumetric Efficiency Y-axis
Click on the label to choose AM Throttle position and press enter to confirm
your choice. Note the Volumetric Efficiency Table must be closed and NIRA
rk must be offline when the Y-axis is changed. This option will change the Y-
axis. Set up proper axis to make the Volumetric Efficiency table look similar to
the picture below for pure Alpha-N mode.
