panel outlets.
CONTROLS-The
Tempmatic
air
conditioner control panel
is
located on the
instrument
panel
to
the left
of
the
steering
column. It consists
of
a fan switch and two
sliding levers. The upper one selects the
source
of
air and
the
lower one
the
temperature of
the
air.
NORMAL
OPERATION-Set
the
fan
switch
at
one of
the
two lower positions
for quiet operation, and
to
minimize
excessive heating
or
cooling during initial
operation of
the
system.
Set
the upper
lever for the season and
the
lower lever
at
75°.
During extremely cold
or
hot
weather, use
the upper fan positions
to
heat
or
cool
the
car quickly, then reduce
the
fan speed.
"OFF"-Outside
air
is
directed through the
heater
outlets. The blower operates
at
low
speed after
the
engine coolant
is
warm.
"AIR
CONO"-Cooled,
regulated air
is
directed through
the
instrument panel
outlets.
Any blower speed
is
available
immediately.
For quick cooling or during
hot
humid
weather, 80%
recirculated air
is
available
by moving the lower lever
to
65 degrees.
(The high
blower speed
is
automatically
programmed with recirculation.) After
cooling, return
the
temperature lever
to
its
previous
location for continuous automatic
control.
NOTE:
A
protective
device installed on
all
air
condition
equipped
cars
will
turn
the
compressor
off
should
the
system leak
refrigerant, thus avoiding possible
costly
repair
and
inconvenience
to
the
owner.
"VENT"-Outside
air
is
directed through
the instrument
panel and heater openings.
The
temperature
is
atuomatically
controlled
to
the setting of
the
lower lever.
Any blower speed may be used when
the
engine coolant
is
warm.
"HEATER"-Heated
air
is
directed into
the
car, of which 90%
is
through the heater
vents and 1
0%
through
the
defroster vents.
Any
blower speed may be used when
the
engine coolant
is
warm.
"BI-LEVEL"-Air,
which
is
automatically
controlled,
is
delivered through
the
instrument panel, heater and defroster
openings
at
the
temperature selected with
the
lower lever. Any blower speed may
be
used immediately.
"OEFROST"-90%
of
the
air, which
is
automatically
controlled,
is
delivered
through the defroster vents and 1
0%
through the heater vents. Any blower
speed may be used immediately.
NOTE:
The
air
conditioner
compressor
will
not
operate
in
the
"OFF",
"VENT"
or
"HEA
TER"
positions.
It
will
operate
in
"AIR
COND",
"BI-LEVEL"
and
"DEFROST"
when the ooutside temperature is above
freezing

The
blower
does
not
operate
in
"OFF",
"HEATER",
and
"VENT"
positions
unless engine
coolant
is wann. Keep
the
car
windows closed
for
best operation
of
the
air
conditioner
and
heater systems.
