FOR HEATING-Move
the
top
lever
to
"HEATER"
to
bring 100% outside air into
the car through
the
heater
outlet.
The
bottom
lever should be positioned for
the
desired air
temperature
and
the
fan switch
moved for
the
proper air flow.
FOR
DEFOGGING-With
the
top
lever
in
uBI·LEVEL",
100% outside air
is
introduced through
the
defroster, heater
and air conditioning outlets. For side
window defogging, aim
the
air from
the
outboard
instrument panel outlets toward
the
side windows.
The
center and lower
instrument panel outlets may
be
closed
to
provide more air
to
the
windshield and side
windows. When
the
outside
temperature
is
above freezing (32
0
F.J.
the
air conditioner
compressor comes
on
automatically
to
dehumidify
the
air for improved defogging.
FOR DEFROSTING-Moving
the
top
lever
to
"DEFROST"
brings 100% outside air
into
the
car of which 90%
is
through
the
defroster outlets
and
10%
through
the
heater outlet. Adjusting
the
bottom
lever
gives
the
desired
temperature
and moving
the
fan switch produces
the
right air
volume.
The
air conditioner compressor
engages
automatically
at
outside
temperatures above freezing.
TO TURN SYSTEM
OFF-Move
the
top
lever
to
the
"OFF"
position.
The
blower
Will
continue
to
operate
at
low speed
whenever
the
engine
is
warm and
the
ignition
is
on,
bringing outside air into
the
car
through
the
heater
outlet.
NOTE:
The
air
conditioner
compressor
will
npt
operate
in
the
"OFF",
"VENT"
or
"HEATER"
positions.
It
will
operate
in
"AIR
COND",
"BI-LEVEL"
and
"DEFROST"
when the -gutside temperature
is
above
freezing
(32

TEMPMATIC
AIR
CONDITIONER
Oldsmobile's
Tempmatic
automatic
temperature
control system (optional
equipment) gives more precise control of
the
inside car temperature. It regulates
the
temperature
of incoming air
to
satisfy
the
temperature
selected with the lower lever
of
the
control. Blower speed and air
outlet
selection can be made
by
using
the
fan
switch and upper lever of
the
control. An
activated charcoal filter
is
included
in
the
system
to
reduce odor
entry
into
the
car.
AIR
OUTLETS-Air
is
directed through
combinations
of
the
heater floor vents,
the
adjustable outlets of the instrument panel,
and
the
defroster vents
at
the
base of
the
windshield. Each instrument panel
outlet
can be adjusted
to
divert air
throughout
the
car and air flow can be reduced
by
closing
the
deflector vanes. Side window
defogging
is
provided by aiming
the
air
flow
toward
the
side windows. Maximum
air may be provided
to
the
side windows
