Troubleshooting
—Continued
Can’t control other components?
If it’s an Onkyo DVD player, make sure that the
cable and analog audio cable (RCA) are connected
properly. Connecting only an cable won’t work
(page 27).
Make sure you’ve selected the correct remote control-
ler mode (pages 10, 12, and 11).
Can’t record?
On your recorder, make sure the correct input is
selected.
Digital signals cannot be recorded.
The sound changes when I connect my head-
phones?
When a pair of headphones is connected, the listening
mode is set to Stereo, unless it’s already Stereo or
Direct. When you disconnect the headphones, the pre-
vious listening mode is resumed.
Can’t use an audio adjust function?
Some audio adjust functions can’t be used with certain
listening modes.
The speaker distance cannot be set as
required?
If the distance between the furthest and nearest speak-
ers is greater than 20 feet (6 meters), corrected values
suitable for home theater use will be set automatically
(page 48).
Recording
Others
The TX-LR552 contains a microcomputer for signal pro-
cessing and control functions. In very rare situations,
severe interference, noise from an external source, or
static electricity may cause it to lockup. In the unlikely
event that this happens, unplug the power cord from the
wall outlet, wait at least five seconds, and then plug it
back in again.
To reset the TX-LR552 to its factory defaults, turn it on
and, while holding down the [ ] TUNING button, press
the [STANDBY/ON] button. When the reset is complete,
“Clear” appears on the display and the TX-LR552 enters
Standby mode.
Onkyo cannot be held responsible for damages (such
as CD rental fees) due to recording failures caused by
the unit malfunctioning. Before recording something
important, do a trial run to make sure that everything is
working properly.
Memory backup
The TX-LR552 uses a battery-less memory backup
system in order to retain radio presets and other set-
tings when it’s unplugged or in the case of a power fail-
ure. Although no batteries are required, it must be
plugged into an AC outlet in order to charge the backup
system. Once it has been charged, the TX-LR552 will
retain the settings for several weeks, although this
depends on the environment and will be shorter in
humid climates.
