Timer recording (continued)
ªTo change the programme
Timer Programme Correction screen (from step 3 on page 32)
1) Use [2, 1] (10) to select the item you want to change.
2) Change the setting with [3, 4] (10).
You may use the numeric buttons (4) to enter “Name”,
“Date”, “Start” and “Stop”.
The items change as follows:

The time increases or decreases in 30-minute increments if
you hold the button.

Specify the recording drive of the standby timer recording.

If you record a programme onto HDD repeatedly everyday or
every week using timer recording, the unit will record the new
programme over the old one.
This is only displayed when “HDD” is selected from “HDD/
DVD” and if you are selecting to record either a daily or
weekly basis in “Date”.
For daily recordings, select (Sunday to Saturday), (Monday
to Saturday) or (Monday to Friday).
For weekly recordings, select the appropriate day.

3) Press [ENTER] (10) when you have finished making changes.
The Timer Programme List screen appears.

VPS stands for Video Programme System.
PDC stands for Programme Delivery Control.
If a TV programme, for example a football game runs longer than
scheduled, is shortened or starts earlier or later, this function
synchronizes the recording start and stop with the actual
broadcasting start and stop of the TV programme.
Conditions for correct operation of the VPS/PDC function:
“ON” must be displayed under “VPS/PDC” on the display.
The TV station must broadcast VPS/PDC signals.
The programme starting time must be set correctly to the starting
time listed in the newspaper/magazine.
To activate the VPS/PDC Function:
Use [3, 4] (10) to make the “ON” indication appear.
Note
The built-in clock employs 24-hour system.
The actual time recorded may be longer than the programme
itself when television programmes are recorded using S
HOWVIEW
(G-
CODE).
“Invalid Entry” is displayed when you enter the wrong code.
Reenter the code.
“PROG FULL” is displayed in the unit’s display if there are already
32 items programmed. Delete unnecessary items (page 36).
The remaining time displayed is calculated based on the current
recording mode.
When recording more than one programme in a row, for HDD
and DVD-RAM the first few seconds, and for DVD-R about the
first 30 seconds of all programmes from the second one onwards
will not be recorded.
If the unit is not put in the timer recording standby mode at the
latest 10 minutes before the programmed timer recording starting
time, the [Á] flashes on the unit display. In this case, press the
[Á, TIMER] (12) button to put the unit in the timer recording
standby mode.
During timer recording when the power is off, the standby
indicator (44) and the HDD/DVD record lamp (40) (41) light.
When the unit is in timer recording standby mode:
- If the unit is on, pressing [DVD, Í] (1) will turn it off.
If the unit is off, pressing [DVD, Í] (1) will turn the power on
and you will be able to use playback and JPEG operations.
- It is not possible to use the tuner on the unit to view television
broadcasts.
- It is not possible to carry out recording operations (including
Flexible Recording/DV Automatic Recording).
Also, the channel setting cannot be changed.
- Timer recording will not be activated when editing or dubbing is
taking place. Timer recording will begin after the editing/
dubbing is finished.
When the unit is carrying out a timer recording:
- You may utilize playback.
If the unit is put into timer recording standby mode by pressing
[Á, TIMER] (12) while recording is taking place, the ongoing
recording will be halted.
