Windows 7 users will often not have the “New Hardware Wizard” run properly, and the driver will
not be installed. When this occurs:
1. Open Device Manager and look under Other Devices for “Unknown Device” or similar and
double-click on that device.
2. Click on “Update Driver” on that screen or on the Driver Tab. Click on “Browse my
computer” on the next screen and browse to the CD drive that contains the ChemTec
Manual and click on OK.
3. As mentioned earlier you will get a security warning about windows verification for the
driver. Click on Install anyway and the installation will finish properly.
4. Please review Device Manager at completion of this process to confirm the COM port
assigned to the ChemTec, now listed under Ports as “USB SciExpert”.
