TROUBLESHOOTING
Table 10.2: Locking Error Codes (manual reset):
“A”
CODE
Error Display Error Description Corrective Actions
A01 IGNITION ERROR
Maximum number of ignition
attempts have been reached.
1. Watch the igniter through the observation window.
2. If no spark is present, check the spark electrode for the proper
gap.
3. Remove any corrosion form the spark electrode.
4. IF spark is present but no flame, check the gas supply to the
boiler. Check high and low gas pressure switches.
5. If a flame is present, check the flame signal ignition log in the
“Installer Menu” under “Status”. If values for the flame signal are
less than 3.1µA, check wiring connections and clean the harness
connector at the control.
6. Determine if gas valve is opening by monitoring incoming gas
pressure.
A02 FLAME FAILURE
Flame failures have exceeded
the maximum allowed.
1. Check the burner flame signal at high and low fire. If it is less
than 5.0 µA, clean the flame sensor. If the problem persists,
change the sensor.
2. If the flame signal is above 5.0 µA, check for possible wind gusts
while the boiler is on low fire. If there is indication of this issue,
increase the minimum fan speed to prevent further occurances.
A03 OVERHEAT LIMIT OPEN
High temperature limit switch is
open (set temperature 210°F).
1. Check CH, DHW and GEN pump operation.
2. Assure adequate flow through the boiler by checking supply &
return temperatures in the status menu. The difference should be
less than 40°F (22°C).
3. Compare temperature readings on the supply sensor against the
temperature gauge. If the gauge is significantly higher check the
sensor and replace if necessary.
A04
INTERNAL ERROR GAS
VALVE RELAY
Gas valve relay is not reacting
correctly to software commands.
1. If persistent locking errors, A04 – A18, occur, systematically
disconnect all wires not supplied by the factory with the
exception of the power supply (CH T’Stat, DHW T’Stat, LWCO,
Pumps, etc.). If the error code goes away, determine which circuit
may be introducing electrical noise or feedback.
2. If the error persists after all these wires are disconnected, contact
your PB Heat representative.
3. If this error occurs after replacing a control, contact your PB Heat
representative.
A05
INTERNAL ERROR SAFETY
RELAY
Safety relay is not reacting
correctly to software commands.
A09
INTERNAL SOFTWARE ERR
RAM ERROR
The software is not operating
correctly.
A10
COMMUNICATION ERROR
E2PROM ERROR
No communication with the
nonvolatile memory in the
control board.
A12
SOFTWARE OUT OF DATE
E2PROM OUT OF DATE
Possible version mismatch
between control and other
components.
