VehicleswithHydraulicBrakes:
Theparkingbrakeconsistsofa
drivelinedrumbrakeactuatedbya
leverandcable.Thehandlever,
mountedonthevehicle'scaboor,
pullsorreleasesthecablecontrolling
thebrake.Pullingupwardonthe
parkingbrakeleverpullsthecable
andexpandsthedrivelinebrakeshoes
outwardagainstthedrivelinebrake
drum.
Thedrivelinebrakeisdisengagedby
pushingthehandledownwardtoits
lowestposition.
NOTE
Failuretofullyreleasetheparking
brakecancausethebrakestoover-
heat.
CAUTION
Unlessitisanemergency,donot
pullupwardontheparkingbrake
leverwhilethevehicleismoving.
Attemptingtostopwiththeparking
brakecouldcausedamagetothe
driveline,transmission,orthepark-
ingbrakemechanismitself.
Usingtheparkingbrake:
1.Cometoacompletestop.
2.Applytheparkingbrake.Pull
upwardontheparkingbrakelever
untilitreachesanover(top)center
position.(ThePARKlightonthe
dashwillcomeon.)
NOTE
Ensuretheleverisovercenter.The
lightwillcomeonpriortobrakebeing
fullyapplied.
