If,duringperiodicinspectionand
maintenanceofothersystemsand
components,itisfoundthatpartsofthe
noisecontrolsystemrequireattention,
werecommendthatthosepartsbe
inspectedatmorefrequentintervals
toassureadequatemaintenanceand
performance.
AirIntakeSystem
•Doallchecksandmaintenance
procedureslistedinthismanual
underEngineAirIntakeSystem
andAirCleaner.SeeAirDryeron
page5-57.
•Checktheinductiontubing,elbow
connections,clamps,brackets,
andfastenersfordeterioration,
cracks,andsecurity.
•Ifyoundanairleakanywhere
betweentheaircleanerand
theengine,repairthatleak
immediately.
CAUTION
Airleakscauseexcessivenoiseand
mayresultinseriousdamagetothe
engine.Ifyoudonotrepairthemthe
enginedamagewillnotbecovered
byyourwarranty.Repairallairleaks
assoonasyoundthem.
EngineMountedNoiseInsulators
•Checkcondition.Istheinsulator
secure?Howyoudothiswill
dependonthemethodofattaching
thenoiseinsulatorsontheengine
andaroundtheoilpan(bolts,
snapfasteners,orstraps).Tighten
loosefastenersandrepairor
replaceanywornordamaged
fasteners.
•Checkinsulatorsaroundfasteners
andstresspoints,especially
wheretheymaybeaffectedby
enginevibration.Repairany
crackedordamagedmounting
points.Usesuitablereinforcing
platestoensurethattheinsulators
willremaininposition.
