Selecting
the
Correct
Needle

needles
having a
shank
diameter
of ®/6a", or
2.0
mm.
Insert
the
needle
into
the
opening
of
the
needle
bar
and
push
it up
as
far
as
it will
go.
Make
sure
the
short
groove
faces
toward
the
right.
The
appearance
of
the
finished
seam
is
dependent
on
the
correct relationship
between
needle,
thread
and
fabric.
Lightweight
fabrics
should
be
sewn
with
a thin
needle
in
order
to
avoid
ugly needle marks. When thick thread is used In a thin needle,
the
thread Is likely to break.
Thin thread used In a thick needle may
cause
skipped stitches.

proper
needle
and
thread
sizes
from
the
chart
below:

Be
sure
to
buy
branded
needles
only. Never
use
rusty
needles.
Only superflnished needles ensure trouble-free sewing and prevent thread breakage. Rough-
surfaced needles tend to overheat quickly and burn the thread. This is particularly true of
synthetic threads which are very sensitive to heat and fuse easily.
For stitching synthetic threads, we recommend that you use superfinished, chromium-plated
needles
which
may
be
obtained
from
us.
