Other potential causes include a worn cylinder (replace the piston cylinder assembly or piston rings), worn or broken piston rings (replace the piston cylinder unit or just the piston rings), oil leaks (check and replace gaskets or restore the coupling seal), a worn valve oil guard (replace it), or worn valve guides (check and replace the head unit if required).

If there is fluid leakage in the hydraulic braking system, you should replace the failing elastic fittings, plunger or brake pump seals. If the brake disc is slack or distorted, check the brake disc screws are locked and measure the axial shift of the disc.
