switch it can prevent interference to other users as well as battery depletion.

12 Busy Channel Lock-Out (BCLO---MENU 12)
Functions: the BCLO feature prevents the radio’s transmitter from being activa-
tedifasignalstrongenoughtobreakthroughthe“noise”squelchispresent.On
afrequencywherestationsusingdifferentCTCSSorDCScodesmaybeactive,
BCLO prevents you from disrupting their communications accidentally (because
your radio may be muted by its own tone decoder).
