Personal Safety
When using the EFX, take the following precautions:
Do not allow children on or near the EFX
®
5.23. Do not leave children unsuper-
vised around the unit.
Assemble and operate the unit on a solid, level surface. Locate the EFX a few feet
from walls or furniture. Keep the area behind the unit clear.
Maintain the EFX in good working condition. (Refer to the
Maintenance
section.)
Run through a check list prior to each use.
Keep all electrical components, such as the power cord and I/O switch, away from
liquids to prevent shock. Do not set anything on the handrails, display console, or
casing. Place liquids in the appropriate receptacles.
Wear proper exercise clothing and shoes for your workout—no loose clothing.
Do not wear shoes with heels or leather soles. Tie long hair back. Keep towels
away from moving parts.
Use care when getting on or off the unit. Use the stationary handrail whenever
possible. Keep your body and head facing forward. Never attempt to turn around
on the EFX.
Never place your hand(s) or feet in the path of the rollers because injury may
occur to you or damage may occur to the equipment.
Do not rock the unit. Do not stand on the handrails, display console, or casing.
Do not attempt to service the unit yourself other than the assembly and mainte-
nance instructions found in this manual. Refer to
Obtaining Service
on page 9.
Do not overexert yourself or work to exhaustion. If you feel any pain or abnormal
symptoms, stop your workout immediately and consult your physician.
Precor products are designed for the enjoyment of the serious runner as well as
the dedicated walker. By following the above precautions and using good
common sense, you will have many safe and pleasurable hours of healthful
exercise with your EFX

Precor Heart Rate Option—Safety Guidelines
A heart rate receiver is installed in the EFX display console. It is activated when you
wear a POLAR
®
chest strap during your workout. Once a heart beat is detected, it is
displayed on the console.
The Precor Heart Rate Option was created and designed exclusively for Precor
products. The equipment is extremely sensitive—you should use the heart rate option
with this in mind and take time to read the guidelines found on page 37.
