withtheleastturbulenceandaeration.Themosteffectivewayto
determinethisisbycheckingthewaterflowaroundthetransomwhilst
underway
.Turbulencecanbecausedbychines(1),skegs(2),strakes,(3),
outletsandexhausts(4),rowsofrivets(5)steps(6),andribs(7).DoNOT
installyourtransduceraftoftheselocationsorinareasofturbulence
createdbythem.
Note:Theillustrationaboveprovidespotentialtransducerlocationsfor
thehulltypesdepicted.Beforeselectingalocation,ensurethatall
locationrequirementshavebeenmet.
Thetransducershouldbemountedaminimumof380mm(15in)away
fromthepropeller .Forclockwiserotatingpropellers,mountthetransducer
onthestarboardside.Forcounter-clockwise,mountontheportside.On
atwinenginevessel,mountthetransducerclosetothecenterlineorjust
offsetfromthecenterline.
Themountinglocationmustensurethatthetransducerelementremains
submergedwhenthevesselisplaningandturning.
Thetransducershouldalsobemountedinalocationwherenoloadwillbe
appliedtothetransducerduringlaunching,lifting,trailering,orstorageof
thevessel.
