Ground Lug
1. Mount the line protection device on a DIN rail in the cabinet.
2. Connect a grounding wire directly to the chassis of the line protection device.
For correct operation, it is very important that the line protector is
properly connected to a low impedance (low R and low L) ground system.
3. Connect the outdoor Ethernet cable from the Connect-OWS to the correct port.
Line protection devices are typically labeled as follows:
SURGE: Connect to outdoor wireless terminal
PROTECTED: Connect to indoor PoE
Note that some protection devices do not require polarized connection, and either
port may be used for connection to the outdoor equipment.

Important: Adequate weatherproofing must be applied to the cabinet ingress port used
for the Connect-OWS Ethernet lead-in cable.
Ethernet Jumper Cable
The installer must provide a Cat-5e Ethernet jumper cable to connect the PoE device to
the surge protection unit. This is a standard 'straight-through' Ethernet cable. It is
recommended to provide a shielded cable with shielded connectors.
