4. Do the procedure again for the needle cap of the
high speed needle.
5. Install in the opposite sequence.
7.7.7.2 To adjust the needle valves
Note: Use a tachometer to measure the rpm of the
engine. Refer to
Servicing tools on page 9
.
1. Remove the needle caps. Refer to
To remove and
install the needle caps on page 21
.
2. Turn the low speed needle counterclockwise until
you hear a click sound.
3. Turn the low speed needle clockwise at basic
adjustment turns. 14 and ½ turns.
4. Turn the high speed needle clockwise and tighten it
carefully until there is resistance.
5. Turn the high speed needle counterclockwise at
basic adjustment turns. 2¼±½ turns.
6. Start the engine.
7. Set the product to full throttle and operate the engine
for 1 minute. Then operate the engine at idle speed
for 10 seconds. Do this procedure again for 3.5
minutes.
8. Set the product to full throttle and turn the high
speed needle clockwise or counterclockwise to get
the maximum engine speed (A).

9. Turn the high speed needle counterclockwise to
decrease the engine speed by 60 – 80 rpm (B).
10. Set the product to idle speed.
11. Turn the low speed needle clockwise or
counterclockwise to get the maximum engine speed
(A).
12. Turn the low speed needle counterclockwise to
decrease the engine speed by 700 rpm (B).
13. Make sure that the engine rpm increase quickly
when you increase the throttle level.
14. If it is necessary, adjust the idle speed. Refer to

adjust the idle speed on page 22
.
15. Install the needle caps. Refer to
To remove and
install the needle caps on page 21
.
7.7.7.3 To adjust the idle speed
1. Start the engine.
2. Set the product to full throttle and operate the engine
for 1 minute. Then operate the engine at idle speed
for 10 seconds. Do this procedure again for 3.5
minutes.
3. Turn the idle speed screw to adjust the idle speed to
the correct rpm. Refer to
Technical data on page

7.8 Ignition system
7.8.1 Introduction
The engine has an electronic ignition system fully
without moving parts. A defective component cannot be
repaired, but must be replaced by a new component.
If the engine does not fire, the ignition module can be
damaged. Before you replace the ignition module, do
the tests that follow.
