10. Assemble in the opposite sequence. Make sure that
the distance (A) between the surface of metering
chamber (B) and the metering lever (C) is 1.65±0.16
mm.
A BC
11. Do a pressure test of the carburetor before you
install it on the product. Refer to
To do a pressure
test of the carburetor - option 1 on page 21
.
7.7.6 To do a pressure test of the carburetor -
option 1
Always do a pressure test after you repair the
carburetor.
1. Connect the pressure tester (A) to the inlet port of
the carburetor (B).
A
B
2. Apply pressure to the inlet valve and read the
opening pressure and the reseating pressure.
Opening pressure: 1.3~2.3 kgf/cm
2
(127~226kPa)
Reseating pressure: 0.6~1.6 kgf/cm
2
(59~157kPa)
3. Make sure that there is no leakage. If a leakage
occurs, refer to
To disassemble and assemble the
carburetor on page 20
.
4. If the value is not in the specified range, do a check
of the metering lever and inlet valve.
7.7.7 Carburetor adjustments
To adjust the carburetor means that you adjust the
engine to the local conditions such as weather, altitude
and fuel.
The carburetor has 3 adjustment controls.
L = low speed needle
H = high speed needle
T = idle speed screw
The low speed needle and the high speed needle adjust
the fuel flow to align with the airflow from the throttle
valve opening. When you turn the low speed needle and
high speed needle clockwise to decrease the quantity of
fuel. When you turn the low speed needle and high
speed needle counterclockwise to increase the quantity
of fuel. Less fuel increases the engine speed and a
more fuel decreases the engine speed.
The idle speed screw controls the throttle position. The
idle speed is increased when you turn the idle speed
screw clockwise. The idle speed is decreased when you
turn the idle speed screw counterclockwise.
The high speed needle and the low speed needle in the
carburetor can only be adjusted with the special tool.
Refer to
Servicing tools on page 9
.
7.7.7.1 To remove and install the needle caps
1. Put the needle cap tool in the needle cap of the low
speed needle. Refer to
Servicing tools on page 9
.
2. Turn the needle cap tool counterclockwise to
connect it to the needle cap.
3. Pull out the needle cap.
