7.11.3 To clean and examine the crankshaft and
crankcase
The crankshaft cannot be repaired, replace it if it is worn
or damaged.
1. Examine the connecting rod. Replace the crankshaft
if the connecting rod is worn, damaged or has
discoloration.
2. Examine the crankshaft bearing. Make sure that
there is no radial play in the connecting rod. Make
sure that there is axial play to sufficiently lubricate
the crankshaft bearing.
3. Examine the crankcase halves for cracks and
damages.
7.11.4 To assemble the crankcase
1. Put one of the crankcase halves on the crankcase
support. Refer to
Servicing tools on page 9
.
2. Use a press tool to install the bearings into the
crankcase half. Refer to
Servicing tools on page 9
.
3. Do step 1 and 2 again and install the bearing into
the other crankcase half.
