functions in the status bar will continue to work with the screen locked. Press and hold the lock
symbol for at least 5 seconds to initiate Locked Monitor Mode. Locked Monitor Mode enables
the MESA to be locked for overnight or extended monitoring to keep others from tampering
with the device or settings. For additional details on Locked Monitor Mode, (see page 90).
8. Zoom Out (expand frequency span) — expands the displayed frequency span.
9. Zoom In (narrow frequency span) — narrows the displayed frequency span.
Status Bar
The status bar consists of a row of icons across the top of the screen. These provide quick access to
information or settings for the MESA.
Mode Settings Menu
The mode settings menu contains features and settings specific to the mode the MESA is in.
This menu will vary with each mode selected on the MESA.
Volume Control
Tapping this icon will bring up the volume control. The control will disappear after a few seconds
if there is no activity or can be tapped to make it close.
Options for Audio Demod (see page 42) and the I/Q Recorder (see page 41) are also found in the
Volume Control. These are grayed out and unusable until the frequency span is 14 MHz or less.
Press and hold this icon to quickly mute the audio. Press and hold the icon again to return the
audio to the previously set volume and to access the volume control.

Tapping the camera icon in the status bar will take a screenshot and save it to the unit in .jpg
format using an automatically generated file name based on a header specified by the user (see
page 81. The captured screenshot can be viewed on the MESA using the Image Viewer (see page 83) or
from any PC. The camera icon is grayed out when a USB thumb drive is not inserted in one of the ports.
USB thumb drives need to be formatted with either FAT32 or exFAT – see note on page 100.
Help
Tap the Help icon to access information on operating the MESA. The Help feature displays
information specific to the currently selected Mode.
