Down Converter Directional Antenna Operation
The Down Converter Antenna is a powered directional antenna that operates in two user-selectable
bands:
Band 1 (low): 500 MHz – 6 GHz
Band 2 (high): 6 GHz – 12 GHz
When using the upper band (Band 2), the Down Converter Antenna converts signals occurring above the
standard 6 GHz threshold so they can be detected and displayed on MESA. To switch between the high
and low band, while the antenna is connected, press the input select button (or probe name) in the top
right corner of the MESA display. In the drop-down menu select Down Converter if the Down Converter
is not already selected. If the down converter was not already selected, press “Apply” after selecting
Down Converter.
In the lower bottom of the Input Info dialog, the 0 – 6 GHz and 6 – 12 GHz buttons select between
bands. The start and stop frequencies change depending on the down converter state. After selecting
the desired band, press the "x" to close the Input Info dialog box.
Note: The MESA Down Converter is available in the MESA 2.0 Deluxe Package.
Universal RF Antenna Input
The MESA automatically detects any of the REI-provided probes when connected and automatically sets
up the correct Span, Start Frequency, and Stop Frequency for the connected probe. Occasionally, it may
be necessary to view the spectrum outside of a probe’s operational range. For these situations, a
“Universal RF” option has been provided.
