How to fix a blank LED on Renishaw Media Converter readhead?
    • M
      Marilyn WalkerSep 12, 2025
If the LED on the readhead is blank, it indicates a power issue. Here's what you can do: * Ensure that the readhead is receiving 5 V of power. * If using cable variants, verify the correct wiring of the connector. Remember that analogue and digital systems have different pin-outs. * For Ti, Ri, or cabled ACi interfaces, check that the interboard connector is properly seated and in the correct orientation. * For FPC variants, ensure the FPC cable is correctly inserted and oriented.

How to troubleshoot a blank LED on a Renishaw ATOM Media Converter readhead?
    • K
      Kelly GallagherSep 12, 2025
If the LED on the readhead is blank, it indicates that there is no power to the readhead. Ensure 5 V are supplied at the readhead. For cable variants, check the correct wiring of the connector, noting that analogue and digital systems have different pin-outs. When using Ti, Ri, or cabled ACi interfaces, check that the interboard connector is properly seated and oriented correctly. For FPC variants, check correct insertion and orientation of the FPC cable.

Why am I unable to get a green LED around a complete rotation on my Renishaw Media Converter?
    • W
      William HamiltonSep 9, 2025
If you are unable to get a green LED around a complete rotation, it indicates that the system run-out is not within specification. Check that the readhead variant is the correct type for the chosen disc (see the ATOM ™ miniature encoder system data sheet (Renishaw part no. L-9517-9563) for details of readhead configuration). Use a DTi gauge to check that the run-out is within specifications. Restore factory defaults. Realign the readhead to obtain a green LED at the mid-point of the run-out. Recalibrate the system. For 20 µm systems, a green or orange readhead set-up LED is acceptable around the full axis of rotation. However, the system must be calibrated over an area of scale with a green LED.

Why is the LED on my Renishaw Media Converter readhead single flashing blue?
    • R
      Randy EvansSep 8, 2025
If the LED on the readhead remains single flashing blue even after moving it around the full rotation, it means the system failed to calibrate the incremental signals because the signal strength was less than 70% before calibration. Exit CAL mode, restore factory defaults. Check the system setup and realign the readhead to get a green LED along the full axis of rotation before recalibrating.

What to do if the LED on Renishaw ATOM Media Converter is double flashing blue?
    • Z
      Zachary AverySep 7, 2025
If the LED on the readhead is double flashing blue even after moving it past the reference mark several times, it means the readhead is not detecting a reference mark. Check the readhead orientation and alignment. Also, ensure the readhead optical window and disc are clean. Verify that the readhead variant is the correct type for the chosen disc, consulting the ATOM ™ miniature encoder system data sheet (Renishaw part no. L-9517-9563) for details.

What to do if I cannot initiate the calibration routine on my Renishaw ATOM?
    • J
      Joshua RiceAug 23, 2025
If you cannot initiate the calibration routine, it may be because the cabled D-type readhead does not have a CAL button. If you are not using an interface with a CAL button, ensure the correct pin is being shorted to 0 V for less than 2 seconds. Also, verify that the LED is green before starting calibration (signal size > 70%).

Why does the LED on my Renishaw Media Converter readhead appear purple?
    • S
      Sherri WilliamsSep 5, 2025
If the LED on the readhead appears purple, it indicates that blue and red are combined, meaning the AGC is switched on and the signal level is less than 50%. To resolve this, check the readhead optical window and disc for contamination. Restore factory defaults, then ensure the LED is green around the full axis of rotation, and recalibrate the system. If the LED is still not green, check the alignment of the readhead.

Why is the LED on my Renishaw ATOM Media Converter readhead appearing white with flashes of other colors?
    • K
      Kimberly WilsonSep 4, 2025
If the LED appears white with flashes of other colors as the readhead is moved along the axis, it means that AGC is switched on and the signal level is less than 70%. To resolve this, check the readhead optical window and disc for contamination. Then, restore factory defaults and ensure the LED is green around the full axis of rotation. Finally, recalibrate the system. If it remains not green, check the alignment of the readhead.

Why is the LED on the Renishaw ATOM readhead remaining single flashing Blue even after moving it along the full axis length?
    • B
      Brittany BerrySep 3, 2025
The LED on the Renishaw Media Converter readhead remains single flashing blue because the system failed to calibrate the incremental signals due to the signal strength being less than 70% before the calibration routine was initiated. Exit CAL mode.

Why am I unable to get a Green LED over the complete axis length on my Renishaw Media Converter?
    • C
      Cindy BrownSep 2, 2025
You might not be getting a green LED over the entire axis length on your Renishaw Media Converter because the system run-out isn't within specification. Check that the readhead variant is the correct type for the chosen scale.
