5.4.2 Pressure test
Risk of personal injury due to pressurized
components and process medium being dis-
charged.
Incorrect opening of pressure equipment or
mounting parts may lead to the process me-
dium escaping to the atmosphere.
Î Do not loosen the control line while the
valve is pressurized.
Î Do not start up the regulator until all
parts have been mounted.
The plant operator is responsible for per-
forming the pressure test. SAMSON's Af-
ter-sales Service can support you to plan
and perform a pressure test for your plant.
Risk of valve damage due to a sudden
pressure increase and resulting high ow
velocities.
Slowly open the shut-off valves.
During the pressure test, make sure the fol-
lowing conditions are met:
Pressure test with mounted diaphragm ac-
tuator
Î All required control lines are connected
to the actuator and are not shut off.
WARNING
!
Note
NOTICE
!
Î Do not allow the pressure to exceed the
1.5 times the pressure rating of the valve
body.
Î Do not apply a pressure higher than the
maximum specied pressure rating or
maximum operating pressure to the actu-
ator (see 'Technical data' in the 'Design
and principle of operation' section).
Î Make sure that the pressure rises simulta-
neously upstream and downstream of the
regulator to avoid damaging the balanc-
ing bellows or the balancing diaphragm.
If the test pressure of the valve is higher
than the specied maximum permissible op-
erating pressure of the diaphragm actuator,
the pressure test is always performed with-
out a mounted diaphragm actuator.
Pressure test without mounted diaphragm
actuator
Î Depressurize the plant and remove the
control line. Close any control line con-
nection in the plant by closing the in-
stalled shut-off valve or inserting a blank-
ing plug.
Î Seal the body connections with blanking
plugs.
If the valve is not sealed off, the test medium
escapes at the connection where the actuator
is connected to the valve. It is not possible to
perform a pressure test on the valve in this
case (see Fig.5-3).
Î Seal off the valve using a coupling nut
(0250-1037) with seal (0340-1962).
