What to do if LINE ERROR appears on Sharp UX-40?

If you see 'LINE ERROR' on the display, try the transaction again. If it still fails: * Check that the cord from the TEL. LINE socket to the wall is correct for the fax machine. * Ensure no modem devices share the line. * Confirm the other fax machine works. * Check your telephone line for noise. * Try a different telephone line. If the problem persists, the fax machine may need service.
