Why isn't my answering machine working properly with my Sharp UX-53?

  If the answering machine connection on your Sharp Fax Machine does not operate properly, make sure your fax machine's reception mode is set to A.M. Ensure your fax machine's TEL. LINE socket is connected to the wall socket and the TEL. SET socket is connected to your answering machine's telephone line socket (not the answering machine's extension phone socket). Also, make sure your answering machine's outgoing message is under 10 seconds and the Quiet Detect Time setting is set to three or four seconds.
