54 FPD-2010
5.2Turning off the Power
First, set the flow rate of the detector gas (hydrogen and air) to zero. After a while, the monitor value reads
zero, and the hydrogen flame of the detector goes OFF. After confirming that the hydrogen flame goes OFF,
set the FPD detector to [Off], and then lower the temperature of [COL], [INJ], and [DET].
For the details of the stopping procedure, refer to 7.4 Setting the Stop Procedure of the GC-2010 Instruction
Manual.
 CAUTION
The hydrogen flame must be extinguished before lowering the detector tem-
perature. If the detector temperature is lowered before the hydrogen flame is
extinguished, water drops are produced around the nozzle, resulting in dete-
rioration of the sensitivity.
 CAUTION
In order to protect the filter, the FPD-2010 is so constructed that it is cooled
by the fan provided with the filter. This fan keeps operating as far as the
power is supplied to the GC-2010 main unit. Consequently, in order not to
make the service life of the filer shorter, do not turn OFF the power of the
2010 main unit when the column oven and detector temperature is high. After
the temperature has been sufficiently cooled, turn OFF the power of the GC-
2010 main unit.
