Installing and removing hardware
7.3.1
Installing and removing the backup battery
The service life of a backup battery is approximately 5 to 8 years, depending on the
operating conditions.
Note
Replace the backup battery only with a battery of the same type or a type recommended by
the manufacturer. Order number of the backup battery: A5E30314053.
Dispose of used batteries in accordance with local regulations.
Requirement
The device is disconnected from the power supply.
No peripherals such as a mouse, keyboard or monitor are connected.

Procedure
Opening the device
NOTICE
Time setting is lost
The time setting is cleared if it takes more than 30 seconds to replace the battery. The
device time is no longer synchronized. Timer-controlled programs will no longer run or run
at the incorrect time. This may damage the plant.
Set the device time again.
Note
Make a note of the current BIOS setup settings or save them as a user profile in the BIOS
setup
Exit menu (Page 163). You will find a list for noting the settings in the BIOS
description.
