S7-1500H configuration and operating principle
The S7-1500H redundant system consists of:
Two CPUs S7‑1500H
PROFINET ring with Media Redundancy Protocol (only when configured as ring
topology)
Two redundancy connections
IO devices
Possibly switches
Compared to S7-1500R, S7-1500H supports more functions and configuration variants:
System redundancy R1
H-CPUs do not have to be part of a PROFINET ring or an MRP domain.
This makes additional topology variants possible, such as line topology, combined
topology, or setup without additional devices.
Ring topologies
For S7-1500H in ring topology, a PROFINET ring closed via the CPUs is required as for
S7-1500R. All nodes can still communicate with each other in the event of an interruption in
the ring. All PROFINET devices in the PROFINET ring must support media redundancy (MRP).
If you configure the redundant system with R1 devices, two separate PROFINET rings are then
required.
You can decouple further devices from the PROFINET ring via a switch, for example:
PROFINET devices with one port
Non MRP-capable PROFINET devices
