Safety Integrity Level (SIL)
Measure defined in IEC 61508, for the safety-related performance of an electrical or
electronic control device.
The IEC standard defines four SIL levels SIL1 to SIL 4, which are defined as the safety
implementations of electrical and electronic equipment. The SIL value describes the
specified safety function in the event of a fault.
