5.2.5 Star Network, 2-Wire Half-duplex (RS485 Interface)
Overview
Fig. 5-14 shows a configuration for a star network, 2-wire half-duplex. Parallel
connection of several MD2 modems enable the connection of a star network to one
single DTE. All three MD2 modems represent terminal points but in this example
one is a 2-wire, one is a 4-wire and the other is a 2 x 2-wire terminal point. Each
modem is set to the "With RS485 interface" operating mode.
All available baud rates and character recognition methods except for "MID off" can
be used in this configuration.
The settings on each modem is different due to the different terminal types they
represent (see Table 5-28, Table 5-29 and Table 5-30).
