Appendix B: Connecting an External Meter to
an Inverter
This section provides instructions for connecting an external meter to inverters with or
without a Built in Revenue Grade Meter (RGM).
Connecting an External Meter to an Inverter
Remove the wires connected to the RS485-1 pins on the communication board (see
figure below), and insert the external meter wires together with the original wires (two
wires per pin). Ensure to maintain the original wire order.
Connecting an External Meter to an Inverter with a
Built in Revenue Grade Meter (RGM)
Remove the wires connected to the RGM RS485-1 pins in the Connection Unit with
Safety Switch (see figure below), and insert the external meter wires together with the
original wires (two wires per pin). Ensure to maintain the original wire order.
