Notes
• To listen to playback sounds in ster eo, you must use the LINE-1(TV) or LINE OUT
connections.
• When you play a tape r ecorded in monaural, the sound is hear d in monaural
regardless of the AUDIO MONITOR setting.
• If the AUDIO MONITOR button does not function, check that VHS AUDIO MIX in
the SET UP MENU is set to OFF.
How sound is recorded on a video tape
This VCR records sound onto two dif ferent tracks. High-fidelity sound
(usually ster eo) is r ecorded onto the main track (VHS tape) or the standar d
(AFM) track (8 mm tape) along with the pictur e. Monaural sound is
recorded onto the nor mal audio track along the edge of the tape (VHS tape).
