Fault:
Engine not starting
Possible cause:
– On/Off switch set to Off position
– No fuel in tank; blocked fuel line
– Inferior, dirty or old fuel in tank
– Spark plug socket detached from spark
plug; ignition lead not properly fastened
to socket
– Dirty or damaged spark plug; incorrect
electrode gap
– Dirty oil bath air filter
– Engine flooded due to several starting
attempts
Remedy:
– Set On/Off switch to On position (Ö 8.1)
– Fill fuel tank (Ö 7.17);
Clean fuel lines (#)
– Use fresh, good quality fuel (unleaded
petrol) (Ö 7.17);
Clean carburettor (#)
– Connect spark plug socket ();
Check connection between ignition lead
and socket (#)
– Clean/replace spark plug (), (#);
Adjust electrode gap (#)
– Clean/replace oil bath air filter (), (#)
– Remove spark plug and dry, set On/Off
switch to Off position and pull recoil
starter rope repeatedly with the spark

Fault:
Starting problems or deteriorating engine
power

– Water in fuel tank and carburettor;
carburettor blocked
– Contaminated fuel tank
– Oil bath air filter dirty
– Spark plug dirty

– Empty fuel tank, clean fuel line and

Engine overheating
Possible cause:
– Dirty cooling ribs
– Oil level in engine too low
– Surface of engine covered with earth

– Remove earth from engine
– Reduce speed (Ö 8.2)
Fault:
Engine running roughly
Possible cause:
– Oil bath air filter dirty
– Incorrect fuel used
– Insufficient fuel in tank

Fault:
Heavy smoke formation
Possible cause:
– Oil level too high
– Oil bath air filter dirty
– Angle of machine inclination over 15°

position
Fault:
Excessive vibration during operation
Possible cause:
– Loose engine mounting

Reduced tilling performance

– Hoes incorrectly mounted
– Hoes worn
– Brake spur incorrectly adjusted
Remedy:
– Mount hoes correctly (Ö 7.2), (Ö 7.3)

Fault:
Loud gearbox noise
Possible cause:
– Incorrect oil level in gearbox
– Worn components in gearbox
