ordinarytapwaterintoahigh-pressurejet,andawiperkeepsthewindow

Removing
SUP705with
CausticSoda
Soakmodelsina1-percentsolutionofcausticsoda(sodiumhydroxide)to
removesupportmaterialfromdifficult-to-reachareasandtogivethemodela
smooth,cleanfinish.Theamountoftimeyousoakthemodelinthesolution
dependsonhowdelicateitisandhowmuchsupportmaterialneedstobe
removed,butitistypicallybetweenhalf-an-hourandseveralhours.Inany
case,youshouldremoveasmuchsupportmaterialaspossiblebeforethe
causticsodatreatment,andrinsethemodelthoroughly(withawaterjet)
afterwards.
Warning
Causticsodamaycausechemicalburns,scarringandblindness.Mixingit
withwatergeneratesheatthatcouldigniteothermaterials.Neverpour
waterintocausticsoda.Whendilutingthesolution,alwaysaddcaustic
sodatowater.Takeadequatesafetyprecautions;alwaysusenitrile
gloveswhenhandlingcausticsodaandmodelssoakedinit.
