Chapter 4: Motherboard Connections
NVMe VPP Bus Connector
A NVMe VPP Bus connector is located at JNVVPP1 on the motherboard. The NVMe VPP
connector provides hot plug support for the NVMe devices, which will allow the user to replace
NVMe devices without shutting down and powering o the system. Refer to the motherboard
layout in Chapter 1 for the location of JNVVPP1.
NVMe SMBus Headers
NVMe SMBus (I
2
C) header (JNVI2C1), used for PCIe SMBus clock and data connections,
provides hot-plug support via a dedicated SMBus interface. This feature is only available for
a Supermicro complete system with an Supermicro proprietary NVMe add-on card and a
proper cable installed. See the table below for pin denitions.

Chassis Intrusion
A Chassis Intrusion header is located at JL1 on the motherboard. Attach the appropriate
cable from the chassis to inform you when the chassis is opened. Refer to the table below
for pin denitions.

C Header
A PCIe I

C1 on the motherboard. The PCIe SMbus
connector is used for PCIe cards to allow the BMC or the BIOS to read disk drive information
or FRUs more e ectively. Refer to the motherboard layout in Chapter 1 for the location of
JNVI2C1.
