Brewing in M (Manual) Mode:
Manual mode allows the user to cycle through each stage of pressure proling, from the start of the shot to
the end, manually. To brew a shot in M mode, follow the instrucons below:
1. With the portalter prepared for brewing and engaged in the group head, rst pre-infuse the coee puck
by momentarily shiing the brew group to the le. This allows line pressure to saturate the puck.
2. When a drip shows at the spout (or on the basket if boomless), momentarily shi the brew group le
again to advance the process. It may take several seconds before a drip is seen.
3. Shi the group le again to advance to the next stage of brewing. Repeat the process to cycle through
each stage. Typically, the ramp up and ramp down stages on MVP Hydras are kept short relave to the total
brew me. The full pressure stage is remained on the longest and to produce the bulk volume of the shot.
4. To end the shot, shi le again at the last pressure stage. Alternavely, the shot can be ended at any me
by momentarily shiing the group top handle to the right.
Brewing in MP (Manual Program) Mode:
Manual Program ulizes the program sengs for preinfusion (and for ramp up on MVP Hydra models) to au-
tomacally cycle the stage(s) up to the full pressure stage, at which point the user controls both the ramp
down and stopping points of the shot. If “0” is selected for the amount of me for either preinfusion or the
ramp up stage then that stage will be skipped. If “Man” is selected for either the preinfusion or the ramp up
stage then that stage will be manually controlled by the user as in M mode. To brew a shot in MP mode, fol-
low the instrucons below:
1. Select the desired sengs and program you wish to brew with. Shi the group top handle momentarily to
the right to cycle through the available programs. The programs will be indicated by numbers (1-6) in dier-
ent posions on the shot mer. See pages 40 and 41 for instrucons on programming.
2. With the portalter prepared for brewing and engaged in the group head, begin the shot by shiing the
group top handle to the le. The machine will run the preinfusion and ramp up stages according to the pro-
gram sengs.
3. Once the full-pressure brew stage begins, it is at the user’s discreon when to cycle to the ramp down
stage and then to stop the shot. Shi the group top handle to the le to begin the ramp down stage. Shi to
the le once more to stop the shot.
Brewing in VP (Volumetric Program) Mode:
Volumetric Program mode automacally runs a brew cycle from start to nish based on the program select-
ed. Once the user acvates the group, the shot will run to compleon on its own. To brew a shot in VP mode,
follow the instrucons below:
1. Select the desired sengs and program you wish to brew with. Shi the group top handle momentarily to
the right to cycle through the available programs. The programs will be indicated by numbers (1-6) in dier-
ent posions on the shot mer. See pages 40 and 41 for instrucons on programming.
2. With the portalter prepared for brewing and engaged in the group head, begin the shot by shiing the
group top handle to the le. The machine will automacally run through the programmed sengs for each
stage.
3. The shot will automacally end once the set total water count has been registered. The shot can be
stopped manually at any me by shiing the group top handle momentarily to the right.
