The first directory level
on
any disk. All
other directories
are
subdirectories of
the
root.
A specified group of characters,
for
example,
"Hello."
Usually refers to your DOS (disk operating
system). By context,
it
can also refer to your
computer system, including monitor, CPU,
drives, and peripheral equipment.
Display
on
the
video screen (
A>,
B>,
C>,
or
D»
that
indicates which drive is
the
current drive and
that
MS-DOS is waiting
for
a command.
A command parameter
that
activates a spe-
cial function. The command DIR /W will
cause
the
directory listing to be displayed
on
the

A storage
