TheThinkPadSetupprogrammenulistsvariousitemsaboutsystemconfiguration.
Attention:Thedefaultconfigurationsarealreadyoptimizedforyou.Improperchangeoftheconfigurations
mightcauseunexpectedresults.
ToconfigureThinkPadSetup,dothefollowing:
1.Restartthecomputer.Whenthelogoscreenisdisplayed,pressF1.TheThinkPadSetupprogramstarts.
Note:Ifyouarerequiredtoenterthesupervisorpassword,enterthecorrectpassword.Youalsocan
pressEntertoskipthepasswordpromptandstarttheThinkPadSetupprogram.Ifyoudonotenterthe
password,youcannotchangetheconfigurationsthatareprotectedbythesupervisorpassword.
2.Usethearrowkeystoselectatab;orusethearrowkeystolocateanitemandpressEntertoselect
it.Thenthesupportedsubmenuisdisplayed.
3.Defaultvaluesareinboldface.Setthevalueofanitembydoingoneofthefollowing:
•PressF6tochangetoahighervalue.
•PressF5tochangetoalowervalue.
4.PresstheEsckeytoexitthesubmenuandreturntotheparentmenu.Thenusethesamemethod
mentionedabovetochangeotherconfigurations.
5.Whenyoucompletetheconfiguration,pressF10tosaveandexit.YoualsocanselecttheRestarttabin
theThinkPadSetupmenu,andrestartyourcomputerwithoneoftheprovidedoptions.
YoucanpressF9torestoretothedefaultsettings.
Changingthestartupsequence
Insomecases,youmighthavetochangethestartupsequencesothatthecomputerstartsfromadesired
devicewhenpoweredon.Readthistopictolearnhowtochangethecomputerstartupsequence.
Attention:
•Afteryouchangethestartupsequence,ensurethatyouselectthecorrectdeviceduringacopy,asave,or
aformatoperation.Ifyouselectthewrongdevice,thedataonthatdevicemightbeerasedoroverwritten.
•IfyouareusingtheWindowsBitLockerDriveEncryptionfeatureandyourcomputerhasaTrusted
PlatformModule,donotchangethestartupsequence.BitLockerDriveEncryptionlocksthecomputer
whenitdetectsthechangeofstartupsequence.
Tochangethestartupsequence,dothefollowing:
1.AccesstheThinkPadSetupprogramandselectStartup➙Boot.ThenpressEnter.Thedefaultdevice
orderlistisdisplayed.
2.Setthestartupsequenceasyoudesired.
3.PressF10tosavethechangesandrestartthesystem.
Youalsocanchangethestartupsequencetemporarilybydoingthefollowing:
1.Turnoffthecomputer.
2.Turnonthecomputer.Whenthelogoscreenisdisplayed,presstheF12key.
3.Selectthedevicethatyouwantthecomputertostartfrom.ThenpressEnter.
Note:TheBootmenuwillbedisplayedifthecomputercannotstartfromanydevicesortheoperating
systemcannotbefound.
