Problem:Theharddiskdrivedoesnotwork.
Solution:OntheStartupmenuofThinkPadSetup,ensurethattheharddiskdriveisontheBootpriority
orderlist.IfitisontheExcludedfrombootorderlist,itisdisabled.Selecttheentryforitonthelist
andpressShift+1tomoveitbacktotheBootpriorityorderlist.
Problem:AfterIhavesetaharddiskpassword,Imovetheharddiskdrivetoanothercomputerbut
cannotunlocktheharddiskpasswordonthenewcomputer.
Solution:Yourcomputersupportsanenhancedpasswordalgorithm.Computersolderthanyoursmight
notsupportsuchasecurityfunction.
Solid-statedriveproblem
Problem:WhenyoucompressfilesorfoldersbyuseofthedatacompressionfunctionintheWindows
operatingsystem,andthendecompressthem,theprocessofwritingtoorreadingfromthefilesorfoldersis
slow.
Solution:ApplythediskdefragmentationtoolintheWindowsoperatingsystemforfasteraccesstothedata.
Softwareproblem
Problem:Aprogramdoesnotrunproperly.
Solution:Ensurethattheproblemisnotbeingcausedbytheprogram.
Checkthatyourcomputerhastheminimumrequiredmemorytoruntheprogram.Seethemanualssupplied
withtheprogram.
Checkthefollowing:
Theprogramisdesignedtooperatewithyouroperatingsystem.
Otherprogramsrunproperlyonyourcomputer.
Thenecessarydevicedriversareinstalled.
Theprogramworkswhenitisrunonsomeothercomputer.
Ifanerrormessageisdisplayedwhileyouareusingtheprogram,seethemanualsorhelpsystemsupplied
withtheprogram.
Iftheprogramstilldoesnotrunproperly,contactyourplaceofpurchaseoraservicerepresentativeforhelp.
USBproblem
Problem:AdeviceconnectedtotheUSBconnectordoesnotwork.
Solution:EnsurethattheUSBportisenabledintheThinkPadSetup.OpentheDeviceManagerwindow.
EnsurethattheUSBdevicesetupiscorrect,andthattheassignmentofcomputerresourceandthe
installationofthedevicedriverarecorrect.ToopentheDeviceManagerwindow,gotoControlPaneland
ensurethatyouviewControlPanelbyCategory,andclickHardwareandSoundDeviceManager.Ifyou
arepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconfirmation,typethepasswordorprovideconfirmation.
