1.Removethefastenersandbatteryclampandliftout
thebattery.
Important:Donotaddelectrolytewhilethe
batteryisinthemachine.Youcouldspillit,
causingcorrosion.
2.Cleanthetopofthebatteryandremovethevent
caps(
Figure5).

3.Carefullylleachcellwithelectrolyteuntiltheplates
arecoveredwithabout1/4inch(6mm)ofuid

tobringtheelectrolytetowithinabout1/4inch(6

5.Connecta2to4ampbatterychargertothebattery
posts.Chargethebatteryfor2hoursat4ampsor
for4hoursat2ampsuntilthespecicgravityis
1.250orhigherandthetemperatureisatleast60°F
(16°C)withallcellsgassingfreely.
6.Whenthebatteryischarged,disconnectthecharger
fromtheelectricaloutletandbatteryposts.
Note:Afterthebatteryhasbeenactivated,add
onlydistilledwatertoreplacenormalloss,although
maintenance-freebatteriesshouldnotrequirewater
undernormaloperatingconditions.
