1.Positionthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthe
cuttingunits,stoptheengine,engagetheparking
brake.
2.Removetheplasticcovertotheleftsideoftheseat.
3.Makeinitialreeltobedknifeadjustmentsappropriate
forbacklappingonallcuttingunitswhicharetobe
backlapped;refertotheCuttingUnitOperator’sManual.
DANGER
Changingtheenginespeedwhilebacklapping
maycausethereelstostall.
•Neverchangetheenginespeedwhile
backlapping.
•Onlybacklapatidleenginespeed.
4.Starttheengineandrunatlowidlespeed.

position,movetheRaise/LowerMowcontrol
forwardtostartthebacklappingoperationonthe
designatedreels.

9.Ifthereelsstallorbecomeerraticwhilebacklapping,
selectahigherreelspeedsettinguntilthespeed
stabilizes,thenreturnthereelspeedtosetting1orto
yourdesiredspeed.
10.Tomakeanadjustmenttothecuttingunitswhile
backlapping,turnthereelsoffbymovingthe
Raise/LowerMowcontrolrearwardandstopthe
engine.Aftercompletingadjustments,repeatsteps
4
through8.
11.Repeattheprocedureforallcuttingunitsyouwant
tobacklap.
12.Whennished,returnthebacklapleverstothe
forward(F)position,replacethecover,andwashall
lappingcompoundoffofthecuttingunits.Adjust
cuttingunitreeltobedknifeasneeded.Movethe
cuttingunitreelspeedcontroltothedesiredmowing
position.
Important:Ifthebacklapleverisnotreturned
totheforward(F)positionafterbacklapping,the
cuttingunitswillnotraiseorfunctionproperly.
