2.Removethedipstickandwipeitwithacleanrag
(Figure25).Pushthedipstickintothetubeand
makesureitisseatedfully.Removethedipstick
fromthetubeandcheckthelevelofoil.Iftheoil
levelislow,removethellercapfromthevalve
coverandslowlyaddenoughoiltoraisethelevel
totheFullmarkonthedipstick.Addtheoilslowly
andchecktheleveloftenduringthisprocess.Do
notoverll.
Important:Makesurethatthedipstickis
removedwhilellingtheenginewithoil.When
addingengineoilorllingoil,there
must
be clearancebetweentheoillldeviceand
theoilllholeinthevalvecoverasshownin
Figure24.Thisclearanceisnecessarytopermit
ventingwhenlling,whichpreventsoilfrom
overrunningintobreather.

above20degreesF(-7degreesC)andwintergrade(No.
1-DorNo.1-D/2-Dblend)belowthattemperature.
Useofwintergradefuelatlowertemperaturesprovides
lowerashpointandcoldowcharacteristicswhich
willeasestartingandreducefuellterplugging.
Useofsummergradefuelabove20degreesF(-7
degreesC)willcontributetowardlongerfuelpumplife
andincreasedpowercomparedtowintergradefuel.
