1.Cleantheareaaroundthefuel-lterhead
(Figure90).

3.Lubricatetheltergasketwithcleanlubricating
engineoil;refertotheengineowner'smanual
foradditionalinformation.
4.Installthedryltercanister,byhand,untilthe
gasketcontactsthelterhead,thenrotateitan
additional1/2turn.
5.Starttheengineandcheckforfuelleaksaround
thelterhead.
CleaningtheFuel-Pickup
TubeScreen
Thefuel-pickuptube,locatedinsidethefueltank,is
equippedwithascreentohelppreventdebrisfrom
enteringthefuelsystem.Removethefuel-pickuptube
andcleanthescreenasrequired.
1.Removethehoseclampthatsecuresthefuel
supplyhosetothettingofthefuel-pickuptube
(Figure91).

bushingandintothetank(Figure91).
Note:Ensurethatthefuel-pickuptubeisfully
seatedintotherubberbushing.
6.Installthesupplyhoseontothettingofthe
fuel-pickuptube,andsecurethehosewiththe
hoseclampthatyouremovedinstep1.
PrimingtheFuelSystem
Primethefuelsystembeforestartingtheenginefor
thersttime,afterrunningoutoffuel,orafterfuel
systemmaintenance(e.g.,drainingthelter/water
separator,replacingafuelhose).
Toprimethefuelsystem,performthefollowingsteps:
1.Ensurethatfuelisinthefueltank.
2.TurntheignitionkeytotheONpositionfor10
to15seconds.
Note:Thisallowsthefuelpumptoprimethe
fuelsystem.
Important:Donotusetheenginestartermotorto
cranktheenginetoprimethefuelsystem.
