Maintenance
Checking the Tire Pressure
Maintain the air pressure in the front and rear tires as
specified. Chec k the pressure at the v alv e stem after
ev er y 25 operating hours or monthly , whic hev er occurs
first ( Figure 48 ). Chec k the tires when they are cold to
g et the most accurate pressure reading .
Pressure: 20 psi (138 kP a) front and rear tires

Servicing the Front Wheel
Toe-In
Maintain toe-in of the front wheels as specified. If
unev en tire w ear , la wn scuffing or hard steering dev elop
adjustment ma y be required. Chec k the toe-in ev er y
year before storag e .
Specification: 1/8-1/4 inc h (3-6 mm) toe-in on front
wheels .
Measuring the Toe-in
1. Diseng ag e the PTO and set the parking brak e .
2. Stop the engine , remo v e the k ey , and w ait for all
mo ving par ts to stop before lea ving the operating
position.
3. Push front tires out, at front, to remo v e nor mal
looseness in the linkag e .
4. Measure , betw een the rims , at spindle lev el, in the
front and rear of the wheels ( Figure 49 ).

5. T he front measurement should be less than the
rear , as specified.
Adjusting the Toe-In
1. Chec k the toe-in before y ou adjust it; refer to
Measuring T oe-In.
2. R emo v e ball joint from one steering lev er
( Figure 49 ).
3. Loosen jam n ut securing ball joint to steering rod.
R otate ball joint one tur n, cloc kwise to increase or
counter cloc kwise to decrease toe-in.
4. Hold flats on ball joint to align with flats on tie rod
and tighten jam n ut ( Figure 49 ).
5. Install ball joint to steering lev er and c hec k the
toe-in; refer to Measuring T oe-In.
Important: If mor e than one tur n is r equir ed
to meet specifications, alter nate betw een left
and right steering r ods to maintain steering
wheel alignment.
Transaxle Fluid
T he transaxle is a sealed system and no c hec king or
c hanging of the fluid is required.
Important: If an y transaxle pr oblems arise,
contact y our local Authoriz ed Ser vice Dealer f or
help and ser vice.
