3. Remove the camshaft gear (Fig. 86, Item 1).
4. Remove the camshaft bearing caps (Item 2).
5. Remove the camshaft (Item 3).
6. Remove the tappets (Item 4).
7. Remove the basic shims (Item 5).
8. Determine the shim thickness to be fitted for each
v
alve. Example:

9. Install the shims as determined in step 8.
