1. (Mower) Usin

a 1/2" drive with a 15/16" socket,
remove the blade nut that secures both the mulch
fan and blade to the en
g
ine. Use heavy-duty
g
loves to hold the blade while removin
g
the nut.

ine block. Remove the muffler. Proceed to
step 3.
2. Remove the cover and the exhaust pipe under the
cover. (See Fi

3. With the cover and exhaust pipe removed, you can
see into the passa

e leadin

to the exhaust port of
the en
g
ine (A) and passa
g
e to the muffler (B). If
the exhaust requires cleanin
g
, remove the en
g
ine
and separate the en
g
ine and base for access to
the exhaust ports. If the muffler requires cleanin
g
,
it can be removed by removin
g
the 2 screws on
either side of the muffler passa
g
e (see Fi
g
ure 8)
and one throu
g
h the side of the muffler (see A in
Fi
g
ure 9). Use a stick of wood to scrape the
carbon loose. Do not use a metal scraper.

4. The muffler (B) can be removed from the top of the
mower to inspect for carbon buildup. (See Fi
