2.Thoroughlycleanthetractionunit,cuttingunits,
andtheengine.
3.Checkthetirepressure;refertoCheckingthe
TireAirPressure(page50).
4.Checkallfastenersforlooseness;tightenthem
asnecessary.
5.Greaseoroilallgreasettingsandpivotpoints.
Wipeupanyexcesslubricant.
6.Lightlysandandusetouch-uppaintonpainted
areasthatarescratched,chipped,orrusted.
Repairanydentsinthemetalbody.
PreparingtheEngine
1.Draintheoilfromtheengineandinstallthedrain
plug.
2.Removeanddiscardtheoillter.Installanew
oillter.
3.Filltheenginewithspeciedmotoroil.
4.Starttheengineandrunitatidlespeedfor
approximately2minutes.
5.Shutofftheengineandremovethekey.
6.Flushthefueltankwithfresh,cleanfuel.
7.Secureallfuel-systemttings.
8.Thoroughlycleanandservicetheair-cleaner
assembly.
9.Sealtheair-cleanerinletandtheexhaustoutlet
withweatherprooftape.
10.Checktheantifreezeprotectionandadda
50/50solutionofwaterandethyleneglycol
antifreezeasneededfortheexpectedminimum
temperatureinyourarea.
PreparingtheElectrical
System
1.Servicethebatteryandcablesasfollows;refer
toElectricalSystemSafety(page48).
2.Removethebatteryterminalsfromthebattery
posts.
3.Cleanthebattery,terminals,andpostswitha
wirebrushandbaking-sodasolution.
4.Coatthecableterminalsandbatterypostswith
Grafo112Xskin-overgrease(ToroPartNo.
505-47)orpetroleumjellytopreventcorrosion.
5.Slowlychargethebatteryevery60daysfor24
hourstopreventleadsulfationofthebattery.
