DisassemblingtheWheelHubsandBearings
RefertoFigure48forthefollowingprocedure.
1.Removethewheelassembly;refertoRemovingtheWheel(page7–3).
2.Carefullyremovethedustcapfromthewheelhub.
3.Removeanddiscardthecotterpinfromtheaxlespindle.
4.Removethenutretainer,nut,andspindlewasherthatsecurethewheelhub
tothespindle.Slidethewheelhubwiththebearingsfromthespindle.
5.Disassemblethewheelhubasfollows:
Note:Ensurethatyoudonotdamagethehubbore.
A.Removeanddiscardtheoilsealfromthewheelhub.
B.Removethebearingconesfrombothsidesofthewheelhub.Clean
theinnersurfaceofthewheelhub.
C.Cleanandinspectthewheelbearingcupsandcones.Checkthebearing
conesandcupsforwear,pitting,orotherdamage.Replacetheparts
thatarewornordamaged.
D.Ifnecessary,pressthelugscrewsfromthewheelhub.
6.Cleanandinspecttheaxlespindleforwearordamage.Replacetheaxle
ifnecessary.
