1.Removetheoil-llcapfromthellerneckbypulling
thecapupward(Figure42).
Note:Useafunnelwithaexiblehosetodirectthe
engineoilintotheengine.
2.Fillthecrankcasewithapproximately7.0L(7.4US
qt)ofthespeciedengineoil;refertoServicingthe
EngineOilandFilter(page37).
3.Installtheoil-llcap.
4.Starttheengine,runitatidleforabout2minutes,and
checkforoilleaks.
5.Stoptheengineandremovethekey.
6.Waitfor2or3minutesandchecktheoillevel;referto
steps2through6inCheckingtheEngineOilLevel
(page23).
7.Installthesidepanel;refertoInstallingtheSidePanels
(page36).
ChangingtheEngineOilFilter
ServiceInterval:Every250hours
1.Removetherightsidepanel;refertoRemovingthe
SidePanels(page35).
2.Placeasmalldrainpanundertheoillterandthe
oil-lteradapter(Figure44).

4.Useacleanragtowipecleanthesurfaceoftheoil
cooler,wheretheoillterseats.
5.Fillthenewoillterwiththespeciedengineoil,allow
thelterelementtosaturatewiththeoil,andthenpour
outtheexcessoil.
6.Applyathinlayeroftheengineoiltothesealofthe
newoillter.
7.Alignthenewoilltertotheoil-lteradapterand
rotatethelterclockwiseuntilthesealoftheoillter
contactstheoilcooler(Figure44).
Note:Donotuseanoillterwrenchtoinstallthe
newoillter.Thewrenchcandentanoillter,causing
aleak.
8.Handtightentheoillteranadditional1/2turn
(Figure44).
9.Removethesmalloilpanfromundertheoillter.
10.Checktheengineoillevel;refertoCheckingtheEngine
OilLevel(page38).
11.Installthesidepanel;refertoInstallingtheSidePanels
(page36).

System
Important:Donotremovetheelementsfromthe
machinetocheckforarestriction;alwaysfollowthe
instructionsinthefollowingprocedures.
Note:Donotreplaceanoldaircleanerelementwithan
elementthatismorethan5yearsold;checkthedateof
manufactureontheendcapoftheelement.
Note:Everytimeyouservicetheaircleanersystem,ensure
thatallhoseconnectionsandangesareairtight.Replace
alldamagedparts.

Squeezethesidesofthedustvalvetoreleaseanycollected
water,dust,ordirtfromthevalve(Figure45).
Note:Ensurethattherearenoobstructionsinsidethedust
valve.
